New York, NY (July 31, 2024) - Joel Ansett and Dan DeCristofaro have been announced as the winners of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest "$20,000 Song of the Year" for their original song “Lost For Now". The song was one of 12 Lennon Award winners which competed for the "Song of The Year."
Joel Ansett is an American singer-songwriter known for his introspective lyrics and heartfelt live performances. He represents a new era of independent artist, inviting and empowering listeners to act as both the record label and the primary promotional engine for each new release. This steady grassroots approach continues to gain momentum for Ansett, thus far earning him over 30 million streams online, songs placed with Marvel and Netflix, and the title of “songwriter to watch” from The Huffington Post. His newest album “Layers” combines intimate vocals, lyrical depth, and minimalist production for an immersive listening experience about the sorrow and sweetness of close relationships.
Dan DeCristofaro is a singer, songwriter, producer and arranger based in Massachusetts. His recent “genre bending” content series has pulled in over 50k followers across multiple platforms and millions of views. He is also a founding member of Blue Light Bandits, an award winning, 4-piece independent groove rock band from Worcester, MA that has amassed over 3 million streams on Spotify over the course of 3 full length albums, 2 EP’s, and an array of singles. In 2022, he formed Quiet Thrill, a singer / songwriter super-duo with long-time friend and collaborator Joel Ansett. Whether he is performing with the band or as a solo artist, Dan has been a staple of the New England music scene for 10 years and stays busy with local showings.
