Amy Fairchild’s song Falling Down was the Grand Prize Winner in the Pop category in the JLSC in 2002, ultimately earning her the prestigious Maxell Song of the Year. Renee was the Grand Prize winning entry in the same category the following year – and now her songwriting skills have been recognized once again, this time in the Folk category for the title track to her last CD. Amy studied classical music as a child, thus learning about melody and form at an early age. Mr. Heart was originally intended to be about Amy’s own heart and feelings but in the process it became about “a guy.” Her first CD, She’s Not Herself, was voted Album of the Year by local newspapers in Northampton , MA, where she grew up. She went on to be the 1999 Lilith Fair Talent Search Winner and won the Kerrville New Folk Award. She was nominated for 2 Boston Music Awards (2003), won Grand Prize in the Country/Folk category of the Billboard Songwriting Contest. Her music has been heard on television shows including Dawson’s Creek and Joan of Arcadia and was featured in the Radio City Music Hall production Spiderman Live!. She has put out a new CD this year, Amy Fairchild Love.
