Joel Dancyger, music Bogumia Jedynak-Rzymska, lyrics Tango
Joel Dancyger, a native of Poland now living in New York, wrote the music for Tango, inspired by the culture of the European cabaret during the Communist era. Joel’s compositions, largely influenced by European classical music, are often merged with the verse of his favorite poets including Spain’s Frederico Garcia Lorca or Poland’s Julian Tuwim. The prolific writer already has 10 honorable mentions in previous John Lennon Songwriting Contests, and has been a finalist four times in the USA Songwriting Competition. In Poland, he won numerous prizes for his songs and wrote the score for the feature film A Doll. He will be performing in Israel in summer ’05, when the film of his 2002 Concert at JAZZga will also be shown there.
