THE ALABAMA GOSPEL MUSIC SONGWRITING CONTEST
 

**Open to Alabama state residents and students only**

Contest Period: Monday, May 1st - Friday, May 18th
Winner Announcements: Sunday, May 27th LIVE ON THE RADIO!
Cost: $10.00

In celebration of Alabama's great Gospel history, upload your original songs for your chance to shine as a songwriter. You could win one of three Avid Finalist Prize Packages, totaling over $1,350 (MSRP) consisting of Pro Tools + MBox and Sibelius 7! Additionally, we will have one Grand Prize Winner who will win a prize package totaling over $2500 (MSRP) containing a Pro Tools + MBox Pro, Sibelius 7, M-Audio BX5 D2, and M-Audio Axiom Pro 49! Additionally the Grand Prize winning song will be entered into the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and eligible to win the $20,000 Song of the Year!

Exclusive to Alabama state residents and students, the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and John Lennon Educational Tour Bus are offering you this special opportunity to enter this special promotion at a redicued rate of $10! Winners will be annoucned live on the radio on Sunday, May 27th, 2012!

Songs will be evaluated based on melody, composition, originality and lyrics by Gospel industry leaders including:

  • Ben Tankard, Dove and Stellar Award Gospel and Jazz recording artist
  • Matthew Huesmann, platinum-selling producer (Point of Grace, Sandi Patti)
  • American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard
  • Leighton Singleton, Senior VP of Distribution Taesis/Warner Music Group
  • Valerie R. Harris, noted choral director (Gospel Goes Classical, Alabama Symphony Gospel Choir, Israel Houghton)
  • D J Strick, Cox Media Radio Personality and Host of 95.7 FM Gospel Jamz
  • Dr. Henry Panion III, President of Audiostate 55 Entertainment and noted conductor and arranger (Stevie Wonder, Kirk Franklin, the Winans, Chaka Khan)
  • Wayne Linsey, keyboardist on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and for Whitney Houston for many years.
